Longyearbyen – Hamburg

Longyearbyen is a small coal-mining town on Spitsbergen Island, in Norway’s Svalbard archipelago. This Arctic town is known for its views of the Northern Lights. The modern Svalbard Museum chronicles the region’s natural and cultural history. It includes a stuffed polar bear. Live bears can occasionally be seen in the area. The North Pole Expeditions Museum recounts early efforts to reach the pole by air.

Liefdefjorden is a fjord in Haakon VII Land on Spitsbergen, Svalbard. It has a length of about 30 km. Former names of the fjord include Baye d’Amour, Kjærlighedsbugten, Porto detto l’Amato, Liefde Bay and Love Bay. Monacobreen debouches into the fjord.

Raudfjorden is a 20 km long and 5 km wide fjord on the northwestern coast of Spitsbergen. It has two southern branches, Klinckowströmfjorden and Ayerfjorden, split by the peninsula Buchananhalvøya. The fjord is situated on the divide between Albert I Land and Haakon VII Land.

Ny-Ålesund is a small town in Oscar II Land on the island of Spitsbergen in Svalbard, Norway. It is situated on the Brøgger peninsula and on the shore of the bay of Kongsfjorden. The company town is owned and operated by Kings Bay, which provides facilities for permanent research institutes from ten countries.

Hornsund is a fjord on the western side of the southernmost tip of Spitsbergen island. The fjord’s mouth faces west to the Greenland Sea, and is 12 kilometres wide. The length is 30 kilometres, the mean depth is 90 metres, and the maximal depth is 260 metres.

Honningsvåg is the northernmost town in mainland Norway. It is located in Nordkapp Municipality in Troms og Finnmark county.

A la fin du dernier âge de glace, les scandinaves arrivèrent pour vivre un vie précaire entre les glaciers et le bord de l’eau. Les pierres gravée trouvées dans la région témoignent de leur présence. Les habitants originaux étaient les Samis qui parcouraient les landes et les montagnes avec leurs troupeaux de rennes. Tromso a été le point de départ de beaucoup d’expéditions arctiques et a été surnommée la « passerelle vers l’Arctique ». Un peu plus au nord, se trouve le cap Nord, baptisé ainsi par l’anglais Richard Chancellor quand il voyagea le long de ces côtes glaciales en 1522. Le roi Oscar II fut le premier à faire l’ascension du sommet du plateau de Nordkapp en 1873, le seul moyen de passer le cap avant qu’une route soit créée.

Svolvær is the administrative centre of Vågan Municipality in Nordland County, Norway. It is located on the island of Austvågøya in the Lofoten archipelago, along the Vestfjorden.

Torghatten is a granite mountain on the island of Torget in Brønnøy Municipality in Nordland county, Norway. It is known for its characteristic hole, or natural tunnel, through its center. It is possible to walk up to the tunnel on a well-prepared path, and through it on a natural path.

The Geiranger Fjord is a fjord in the Sunnmøre region of Møre og Romsdal county, Norway. It is located entirely in the Stranda Municipality. It is a 15-kilometre -long branch off the Sunnylvsfjorden, which is a branch off the Storfjorden.

Hamburg, a major port city in northern Germany, is connected to the North Sea by the Elbe River. It’s crossed by hundreds of canals, and also contains large areas of parkland. Near its core, Inner Alster lake is dotted with boats and surrounded by cafes. The city’s central Jungfernstieg boulevard connects the Neustadt (new town) with the Altstadt (old town), home to landmarks like 18th-century St. Michael’s Church.
