Suva ist die Hauptstadt der Fidschis und ist eine Hafenstadt, die auf einer Halbinsel erbaut wurde, die weit ins Meer hinaus ragt. Es besteht aus einer Mischung moderner Gebäude und traditionell kolonialer Architektur. Es liegt auf einer hügeligen Halbinsel zwischen der Laucala Bay und dem Hafen Suvas in der südöstlichen Ecke Viti Levus. Suva hatte einst ungefähr 85,691 Bewohner. Dies ist die wichtigste Hafenstadt der Fidschis – der kommerzielle und politische Knotenpunkt der Fidschis und die größte urbane Gegend im Südpazifik außerhalb Australiens und Neuseelands.
Die Berge im Norden und Westen fangen die südöstlichen Passatwinde auf, die das ganze Jahr über für feuchtes Klima sorgen. Suva ist für seine Niederschläge bekannt. Die Regenfälle dort sind um einiges höher als in Nadi und im Westen Viti Levus, der bei den Bewohnern Suvas der „brennende Westen“ genannt wird.
